Basic heart anatomy
◦ 1.right atrium 7.superior venacava
2.right ventricle 8.inferior venacava
◦ 3.left ventricle 9.coronary sulcus
◦ 4.left auricle 10.anterior
interventricular groove
◦ 5.pulmonary trunk 11.incisura apicis
◦ 6.ascending aorta
Chambers of heart
There are four chambers in our heart. They
holds the blood temporarily and transport
them throughout the body and to the lungs
with the help of blood vessels.
Chambers of heart
◦ 1.Right atrium: _receives deoxygenated blood
from superior and inferior venacava, it passes
blood through tricuspid valve to right ventricle.
◦ 2.left atrium :_receives oxygenated blood from
lungs through,
◦ .right and left superior pulmonary vein
◦ .right and left inferior pulmonary vein

Circulation in heart Pulmonary
circulation

There are three types of circulation involved in

physiology of heart.
. Coronary circulation:supplies blood to the
muscles of heart by coronary artery and Corona veins
Coronary
. Pulmonary circulation:supplies blood to the circulation
lungs.
. Systemic circulation:supplies blood to all body
tissues and organs.

Systemic
circulation
Coronary circulation
Coronary circulation
◦ The supply of oxygenated blood from
left ventricle /aorta through Coronary
arteries to the tissues and muscles of
heart and drainage of deoxygenated
blood from myocardium by coronary
veins to the right atrium is cakked the
Coronary circulation.

Cardiac cycle
◦ Cardiac cycle is define as the events
occurring between the beginning of one
heart beat to the beginning of the next beat.
◦ It is the sequence of mechanical events
occurring between two successive beats.
◦ The overall time taken to complete one
cardiac cycle is 0.8 seconds.
