Experiment: Flying the Paper Plane

Aim: To investigate the relationship between the length of paper plane’s wings and
distance travelled by a paper plane.
Problem Statement: Can a paper plane fly further with longer wings?
Hypothesis: The longer the paper plane’s wings, the shorter the distance travelled by the
paper plane
Variables:
Manipulative Variable: length of paper plane’s wings
Responding Variable: distance travelled by the paper plane
Constant Variable: size of paper, techniques of folding
Apparatus and Materials: A4 white paper, measuring tape
Steps:
1.Read the notes below before making your plane.

2. Fold the A4 paper into a plane according to the picture below.

3. Measure the length of the wings.

4. Stand at the starting point.

5. Release the paper plane by throwing it as far as you can

6. Take the measurement of the distance travelled by the plane. Record

7. Repeat Steps 1 to 5 by making another paper plane with different length of wings.

8. Record your observations in the table below:

paper plane’s wings are longer?
