Bonding Generation
Definition
The bonding agents (dental adhesives) are resinous materials used
to enable the restorative material to bond and adhere to dental
tooth structures (enamel and dentin).
Bond Composition
1. Etchants.
2. Primers / resin monomers.
3. solvents.
4. Adhesives ,
5. initiators and inhibitors.
6. fillers.
7. sometimes other functional ingredients such as antimicrobial
agents.
Requirements of Bonding Agents
• Enamel
1. Etchants more predictable bonding
2. more homogeneous structure
3. higher inorganic content
• Dentin
4.higher variability
5.higher organic content
6.less predictable bonding
