Observation

• Shailja is sitting in the book centre looking at the book “I love you forever”. As Shailja turns the
pages she says, “the mama picked up the baby and held that baby in her arms saying ‘I love you
forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as you’re living, my baby you’ll be.” Before she gets to the
last page Shailja says “Oh this part is going to be so funny because he’s a man and she’s going to
hold him like a baby!” When Shailja finishes the book she puts it back on the shelf and picks up
another one. “As she starts to read the book, she sees the letter L and says “this word is love,
because it’s the same as in ‘love you forever’ and there is a heart in the picture and hearts mean
love.
