History of the UK
• The history of the UK started in 1707 with the
union of England (and Wales, that was the part
of england since 1536) and Scotland. Then
Ireland joined in 1801.Uk was the largest
colonial empire for a really long time in history.
But it’s not the only thing they were the first in.

• Talking about the I. Industrial Revolution, the


biggest developments happened here too. Its
dominance was broken by World War I. They
came out as winners from the war, but the
economy of the country became weaker. In the
1920’s, Ireland became independent, only North-
Ireland remained in the the UK.
Sports
• The country has given birth to several major
international sports such as football, rugby,
cricket, golf, tennis, and track and field
among others.

• The most popular sport is football. This


game possibly came from the Ancient
China.

• The top tournament in England is the FA


Cup.
Rugby
• The other famous sport in England is rugby.
Rugby was once associated with the elite in
the UK. Rugby is sponsored by the
government of the UK.
Culture
• British culture is a beautiful and unique mix of
four countries: England, Wales, Scotland, and
Northern Ireland. The mix of all these
countries' traditions is what makes the British
culture very rich and diverse and what they
like to call cultural capital.

• Humour, tradition, and good manners are


characteristics commonly associated with
being English.
Food
• Everybody knows the famous fish & chips and full English
breakfast, but there a lots of special
food in the UK that a lot of people don’t know:

• Sheperd’s Pie: This is maybe one of the most loved dishes


in the UK, it contains layers of minced
beef or lamb that is cooked with onions and all kinds of
vegetables, and then it is topped with a
thick layer of mashed potato and baked.

• Irish stew: It was a soup that was made by the very poorest
of the working classes. The two major
compoments of the dish are meat and potatoes. It was
popular britsh food fish and chips originally made by mutton but these days
people make it from beef and the add root vegetales to it.

Climate
• In general the climate of the UK is changeable, often cloudy especially in the
more northerly areas of the country, with rain evenly distributed throughout the
year. The UK is a country with a very high level of precipitation, the average is
between 800 mm to 1,400 mm.

• UK weather is unpredictable, it is rarely extreme. In summer, the average


temperature ranges from 9–18 degrees Celsius, in winter the average is A typical British summer
between
2 and 7 degrees but temperatures often drop to just below 0 degrees Celsius.

• Scotland is the coldest part of the UK throughout the year and England is
the
warmest.
