What is british culture?
1. What comes to mind when you think of British culture? Most likely it is a series of
traditional stereotypes. On the one hand, you might imagine James Bond ordering a
sophisticated Martini, or the most stylish celebrities attending Wimbledon.
2. The UK is a multinational and multi-ethnic land, full of diversity and contrasts. But even
so, you will hardly find a Brit who does not love a good cup of tea with a delicious
chocolate chip cookie.
3. Its culture stands out for its opulence and sophistication, its origins are ancient with the
founding of England in the 10th century, which is its oldest nation. Unlike other cultures,
the UK has not expanded or combined with the culture of other countries, it has remained
true to its roots and essence.

OUTFIT
The attire that characterizes the culture of the United Kingdom, is its
Scottish national dress, in men it is a kilt with a shirt, waistcoat and tweed
jacket, must wear stockings with garter belts, brogues and a sporran. As
for women, it is a dress or pleated skirts but very different from men's,
these skirts are made of tartan, they also wear a shawl of the same
material.
In Welsh, the dress for the ladies is their typical costume that includes a
prominent hat made of black felt with a high crown and wide brim, worn
over a lace cap. In addition, a red shawl must be worn over the white
blouse, the skirt is complete in wool with a checkered pattern and a
starched white apron.
FOOD
The culture of the United Kingdom is a mixture of all the specialties of the countries
that make up, hence its diversity. Some of the typical dishes are:
French fries and fish: It is the most popular, the fish that is used is haddock or cod, in
addition to the potatoes you can include some peas seasoned with pepper and salt.
Roast with Yorkshire pudding: It is the traditional Sunday dish, the meat is
accompanied with vegetables, roast potatoes with a sauce based on meat juices, broth
and flour, all this with Yorkshire pudding.
Ecclesiastes Cake: Contains Corines raisins.
CUSTOM
The custom of the cheese roll consists of a crowd
chasing a ball of Double Gloucester cheese for fun.
The Morris dance is an art activity in movement, it is a
dance that takes place at the beginning of summer or
at Christmas.
An activity that is very faithful to its origin is going to a
pub, which is a short term for a bar. A group of people
usually gather to drink after the day's activities.
One of the most ingrained customs without a doubt is
the famous afternoon tea, which runs from 2 to 4 in
the afternoon. During this hour you should enjoy an
aperitif.
MUSIC
The culture of the United Kingdom has varied musical styles such as
the folk music of Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland, and heavy
metal. The passion for the musical genre has influenced many
classical music composers and pioneers of modern British opera.
There are many internationally famous symphony orchestras and
choirs such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London
Symphony Choir.
Some of the artists who have been influenced by the music of the
culture of the United Kingdom are: Bee Gees, The Beatles, Elton John,
Cliff Richard, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stone, all of them have had
international significance. The renowned Glastonbury music festival is
also celebrated in the United Kingdom.
