Models of

Leadership
What is Leadership?
LEADERSHIP
Leadership is the ability of an individual or a
group of individuals to influence and guide
followers or other members of an organization. It
is a process of social influence, which maximizes
the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a
goal.
What is a Leadership
Model?
LEADERSHIP MODEL
A leadership model is a theoretical framework for how
best to manage employees. It typically suggests a
corresponding response style to employee and
organizational needs that has proven useful in that
model. Leadership models provide a useful structure
for defining the management methods that fit your
work style and personality.
" A Leader is the one who knows
the way, goes the way and shows
the way."
12 TYPES OF
LEADERSHIP
MODEL
TRANFORMATIONAL
TRANSFORMATIONAL

Transformational leadership is defined as a

leadership approach that causes change in
individuals and social systems. In its ideal form,
it creates valuable and positive change in the
followers with the end goal of developing
followers into leaders.
TRANSACTIONAL
TRANSACTIONAL
Transactional leadership is a straightforward
rewards-based model. It works off the concept
that an employee’s personal interests (as
opposed to company interests) are the principal
factors motivating them to complete an assigned
task or reach a performance level.
SERVANT
SERVANT
Servant leadership is a leadership style and
philosophy whereby an individual interacts
with others—either in a management or
fellow employee capacity—to achieve
authority rather than power. The system
embodies a decentralized organizational
structure.
AUTOCRATIC
AUTOCRATIC
Autocratic leadership, also known as
authoritarian leadership, is a
leadership style characterized by
individual control over all decisions
and little input from group members.
DEMOCRATIC
DEMOCRATIC

The opposite of autocratic leadership is

democratic leadership, also known as
“participative leadership.” IT is a
leadership style in which members of the
group participate in the decision-making
process.
LAISSEZ-FAIRE
LAISSEZ-FAIRE

The phrase “laissez-faire” translates

literally from the French as “allow to
do.” It represents a political,
economic, and leadership model that
involves passivity.
BEREAUCRATIC
BEREAUCRATIC
Following the rules is the secret to bureaucratic
leadership success. In this most formulaic of leadership
models, you have a defined job title, a set of
responsibilities, and a pre-existing method for
responding to urgent needs. Requiring such strict
adherence to established rules and protocols can create
a rigid and tense workplace for employees..
CHARISMATIC
CHARISMATIC
Charismatic leadership is defined by a leader
who uses his or her communication skills,
persuasiveness, and charm to influence others.
Conviction and a magnetic personality can take
you around the globe as a charismatic leader.
PACESETTING
PACESETTING
Pacesetting is a leadership style where leaders
uphold high standards and expectations for their
team. As the name implies, the leader sets the
pace for their team or organization by putting
forward an approach that can be summarized as
"Do as I do, now."
ETHICAL
ETHICAL

The concept of fairness is vital to

ethical leaders. This model brings a
balance of logic and a sense of
justice, with deep reverence for the
rights of everyone involved.
AFFILIATIVE
AFFILIATIVE
Affiliative leadership requires a “people first”
mindset. It’s about creating collaborative
relationships and becoming an emotional support
system for your team. Connecting on a direct and
personal level with your employees positions you to
quickly resolve conflicts among staff.
.
COACHING
COACHING

The coaching leadership model applies well to

the world of healthcare. You can provide tools
and support for staff who want to strengthen their
skills in order to improve performance, benefiting
the company and patients.
