How she met Prophet Muhammad ‫صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬

In 595 Khadija (‫ ) رضي هللا عنه‬needed

a co-worker for a transaction in
Syria. She chose Muhammad Ibn
Abdullah for the trade. With the
permission of Abu Talib Ibne
Muttalib his uncle, he was sent to
Syria with one of Khadija's servants.
The integrity and honesty of the Prophet
( ‫ ) صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬brought such blessings
that he returned with an unexpected
profit. Hazrat Khadija’s
( ‫ ) رضي هللا عنه‬servant, Maysarah, who
accompanied the Holy Prophet ‫صلى هللا عليه‬
‫ وسلم‬on his journey was full of praise for
him.
Impressed, she extended the marriage
proposal to the Holy Prophet (SA) which
was accepted and through mutual
consent, they got married.
The Holy Prophet (SA) was 25 and Hazrat
Khadija (RA), 40.

he received his first revelation.
He returned home restlessly and
narrated the whole incident to his
wife and disclosed his fears of the
responsibility, which Allah had
placed on him.

She took him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal, a
renowned scholar of past religion, who affirmed
Muhammad ‫ صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬of his prophethood and
declared his encounter to be of divine origins.

Thus, Hazrat Khadija ‫ رضي هللا عنه‬was the first

person to believe in her husband’s mission and
embrace Islam.
In its emerging years, when Islam was under
the constant oppression, Hazrat Khadija
(R’ad’iall’ahu Anha) stood firmly by the
Messenger (Sallall’ahu Alaihi Wasallam) of
Allah and helped him with moral and
financial support. She donated all her wealth
for the propagation of Islam.
During these harsh times, Khadijah(R’ad’iall’ahu Anha)
remained a loyal and patient companion and wife, often
giving Muhammad (Sallall’ahu Alaihi Wasallam) wise and
compassionate guidelines. Her constant support
strengthened him in his mission to spread the Message of
Allah subhanahu wa ta-ala.
For three years the small Muslim

else mattered.
Finally the boycott was lifted and the Muslims
were allowed to re-enter the city; but the three
years of hardship had taken their toll on her
health. She spent her last days in the loving
care of her husband and daughters.

Hazrat Khadija (R’ad’iall’ahu Anha) died

at the age of 65 and was buried in the
Meccan cemetery of Hujoon.
