GAWADAR DESALINATION

POTABLE WATER PLANT

INTRODUCTION
Desalination plants are facilities designed to remove salt
from sea water or brackish water to produce fresh water ,
they are crucial for providing a sustainable source of fresh
water in regions with water scarcity, supporting agriculture.
They are often used in arid costal regions where traditional
sources of fresh water are limited like SAUDI ARABIA and
ISREAL . Desalination typically employs 2 main
methods :DESALINATION and REVERSE OSMOSIS

GWADAR'S DESALINATION POTABLE
WATER
During the recent years , the government of Pakistan and the
ministers of Balochistan have taken a firm decision to build a
desalination plant in Gawadar . Project implementation
agreement was signed on 5th July 2021. the aim was to purify
the sea water and make it safe for drinking . As soon as the
agreement was signed the construction was started it was said
that the construction would be completed till 30th June 2023
but there are still no reports
PROBLEMS FACED DURING THE
CONSTRUCTION
Depending on the location the desalination plant a desalination
plant can cost from $200 billion to $300 billion , the plant also
requires huge amount of energy and according to water policy
experts it is not possible to manage this in an environmentally
friendly way .desalination is the process that faces the
challenges of reducing costs and avoiding gas emission and
solving pollution problems

People of Gawadar were happy from this construction
and see it as a benefit. The COAS, while inaugurating
the project said all the measure were being taken in
coordination with the government and that “it would
bring peace to the province” . Not only this but the
local people were also very thankful to the government
and were delighted by this facility of water
CONCLUSION
 In conclusion, the construction of the Gwadar’s
desalination plant is at its final stages. The primary
objective of the project is to address the prevailing
shortage of portable and drinking water in Gwadar.
There are hopes that this desalination plant will be
beneficial to Pakistan as well and will be a important
figure in Pakistan. Everyone believe this is a good step
by the government which will help in the development
of Gwadar. Also, last month, GDA completed 185km
pipeline from Shadi Kor and Swad dams as a clue for
the betterment of Gwadar's water scarcity
