Good afternoon. I am a student of
the career of metal structures and
constructions, in this career our
principle is to know about metal
work, so we know the necessary
tools to be able to work with metals,
be it welding machines, milling
machines, lathes, or other machines,
too. We use tools that help us
measure, cut, scratch, among other
tools. which help us to carry out
good jobs in the metal industry.
In the next paragraph we will
present a basic concept about metal
work:
Is the process of shaping
and reshaping metals to
create useful objects, parts,
assemblies, and large-scale
structures. As a term it
covers a wide and diverse
range of processes, skills,
and tools for producing
objects on every scale:
from huge ships, buildings,
and bridges down to precise
engine parts and delicate

The goal of the metalworking industry
is to transform raw materials from
metals into sheets, wires, and plates,
etc. This is to have things such as
spare parts, auto-parts for vehicles,
radio receivers, nuts among others as
a final product. These items are used
in a great diversity of sectors such as
water, gas, heating, automotive,
aeronautical industry, to name a few.
he metalworking industry is
distinguished by the high complexity
of its processes that require high
precision from its craftsmen. Among
the expert tradesmen in the industry
are turners, rectifiers, milling machine
operators, die makers, casters,
numerical control operators (CNC),
welders, forgers, among many other
specialized individuals.
Separately we will present the materials-
tools that help us in the field of metals:
The key difference between equipment and
materials is that materials form the actual
product and are the parts, components,
ingredients and raw materials that become
a part of the product whereas equipment
refers to the tools, machinery, devices that
help create the product. Factors of
production are the inputs in a
manufacturing process that are used for
the production of various goods and
services.
Factors of production are defined as land,
labour, capital, and entrepreneurship.
Capital comprises a number of inputs into a
production process, which also includes
manufacturing equipment and tools. In
addition to equipment, capital can also be
used to purchase materials that are
essential for the manufacturing process
Next we will talk about Safety in
working with metals:
Safety in metal work is very
important since we are exposed to
many risks, working with metals is
considered one of the difficult and
risky jobs, we are exposed to falling
objects, machine failures, burns,
respiratory problems, problems in
sight, etc.
For this, AWS standards have been
created, in which we can find many
work standards that help us prevent
these security issues.
In my opinion, we as workers have
to take care of our safety, if we
don't do it, no one else will do it for
us, we must use the appropriate
work equipment, that is why we
will make known the equipment
required in this industry.
Working with metals is very risky,
that is why I recommend making
work plans. In my case, I do make
work plans in my company to be
able to work easily. We will share a
little more about this work plan
topic. To work efficiently you need
to be in good health. Unfortunately,
on many occasions work contributes
to deteriorating the health of the
individual, due to the inadequate
conditions in which the activities
inherent to the position or position
held are carried out. In my opinion,
creating work plans is a good option
since it facilitates the way we work
and everything is organized in one
way or another. It helps us, for
example, the safety equipment
plan, personal protective
equipment, etc. That's why we will
make known about the work

The equipment required for working with metals
implies many things, it depends on the work you are
going to do, for example you will not use the same
safety equipment for welding as for cutting, so it will
depend a lot on the work to be done within the
company.
In general, the equipment or known as PPE is:
-jean clothing resistant to sparks and heat

-Ear plugs
-welding gloves and chamois
-welding helmet
-clear and dark lenses
-respirator
The use of this equipment helps to care for and
protect our health against risks that we are exposed
to, health is important, and we must be responsible
Occupational health is understood as the reduction
and/or elimination of risk factors within the workplace.
And more specifically in the job and in the tasks that the
specific worker performs. For which the working
conditions and its organization are considered. To
achieve these objectives, a multidisciplinary team is
necessary that will be involved in the different areas
involved in the protection and promotion of health.
Being made up of experts in:
- Safety at work. Discipline that is responsible for
avoiding work accidents, by ensuring that the work
center, machines, tools and any other equipment that
the worker must use will be safe.
- Industrial hygiene. Its objective is to prevent the
worker from getting sick due to their work activity, for
which it pays special attention to the agents and
substances that are likely to cause them.
- Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology. The first has
the function of adapting the job and tasks to the person
who occupies it and the second deals with psychosocial
issues that may affect the worker.
- Work Medicine. It has more of a healing function since
in principle it acts when the damage has already
occurred. But its statistics can also give clues as to what
the most frequent damages are and propose actions to
eliminate them or at least reduce them.
