Process of Oral Presentation
1. Preparatory Steps
a. Choose the topic in advance. If possible make an index
card also.
b. Discuss it with your mentor
c. Think of your experience for illustrations and references
d. Think of your audience – their wants, needs, interests,
etc.
e. Think of others’ views about your topic
f. Select the material (ideas) and arrange them in proper
order
g. Plan your visual aids to make your ideas concrete for the
audience – diagrams, tables, charts, graphs, etc.
h. Take time to decide dress for presentation
2. Arresting Attention
a. Sit quietly for a few minutes before your speech
b. Gather your thoughts
c. Breath deeply and relax for a while
d. Grab the attention of the audience with an incident / your
self-experience
e. Introduce the topic
f. Use illustration and examples
g. Be natural and conversational

i. Develop light environment
j. Crowd the audience together

Main Parts
The speech should have three parts :
(a) Introduction,

(c) Conclusion

The audience will adjust to his voice and manners.

a. Leave a clear and encouraging message
b. Good wishes for future success

Note !
• Use humor in speech but don’t make joke of yourself
• Make the audience analysis side by side
• Maintain a vivid quality of voice
• Make appropriate use of body language – eye contact,
hands, etc.
• Try not to get angry
• Ask a question generally to all and then, single out the
respondent
• Keep your speech precise
• Don’t summarize your speech at the end
