“Sumber Daya Alam kita”
READ!

bersyukur”
(QS. An-Nahl: 14)
Let’s Find Out:
01 What is our environment made up of?
Terdiri dari apakah lingkungan kita?

02 What resources can we get from our environment?

Sumber daya alam apa yang bisa kita dapatkan dari lingkungan kita?

Bagaimana cara melestarikan sumber daya alam kita?
What is a natural resource?
A natural resource is
something that is found
in nature and can be
used by people.
Sumber daya alam adalah segala
sesuatu yang berasal dari alam yang
dapat digunakan untuk memenuhi
kebutuhan hidup manusia.
Soil is one of the Earth’s natural resources. It
has many important function that are
essential for life.
Tanah merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam bumi. Ia
memiliki banyak fungsi penting yang penting bagi
kehidupan.

- How is soil important to man and other living things?

- What would happen if there was no soil?
01
What is our
environment made
up of?
There are many things around us. They are living and non-living
things that make up our environment (lingkungan).

Air Water

Plants Animals Fungi & microorganisms

Living things
Sun Soil

Non-Living things

We can find both living and non-living

things in our environment.
02
What resources can
we get from our
environment?
Our Environment
gives us the things we need to live.
Natural resources are useful things that
living things can get from the environment.
Air
Carbon dioxide

All living things need air to survive. Plants and

animals carry out respiration (Bernafas) all
the time. They take in oxygen from the air to
break down food and release energy. Without
oxygen
oxygen, many living things cannot survive.

Plants and animals take in oxygen

and give out carbon dioxide during
respiration.

What would happen if there
were no more trees on the
earth?
In an aquatic habitat, air is dissolved in
the water. When aquatic plants make The carbon dioxide given out by
food, they give out oxygen, which animals during respiration dissolves

Water
All living things need water to survive.

During a drought, there is not

die over time.

The deer is drinking water from a

lake in its habitat.
Land
We can find soil and rocks in the ground.
Soil is form the topmost layer of the Earth. It contains air, water and minerals.
Soil also anchors (mengkokohkan) the roots of these plants in the ground.
Soil gives shelter (perlindungan) to animals such as earthworms. Without soil, some plants cannot
get the water and minerals they
need to grow.
Earthworms make burrows for
shelter and obtain their food from
soil.
We can obtain some building materials from the ground.
Examples include clay, sand and mud. We can obtain
metals from rocks.

Metals such us aluminium are extracted (diekstraksi) from rocks.

Pure metals are usually mixed with other metals or non-metals to
form stronger substances called alloys (campuran).

The roof and panels of this aeroplane

hangar are made of aluminium alloys.

The body of this aeroplane is made

of aluminium alloys.
Plants and animals
We get food from the plants and animals in our environment.
Some plants and animals also give us materials to make
objects such as clothes, scarves and hats.

Chickens give us meat and eggs.

Wool can be used to

Cows give us milk. make coats, hats and

Trees are cut down for wood, which can be used to
build houses and furniture.

The frame of this house is

made of wood.

This floor and these

cupboards are made of wood.

Fuels
(Bahan Bakar)

Fuels are burnt to produce

heat and generate electricity.

Bahan bakar dibakar untuk

menghasilkan panas dan listrik.
Wood is a type of fuel. When
wood is burnt, it produces heat,
which can be used to cook food.
Kayu adalah salah satu jenis bahan bakar.
Ketika kayu dibakar, menghasilkan panas,
yang dapat digunakan untuk memasak
makanan.

A campfire burns wood to

produce heat for cooking food,
Coal mined from the ground is
transported to power stations
to generate electricity.
Coal, oil and natural gas are
fossil fuels (bahan bakar fosil).
They are formed from dead
organisms that were buried
under layers of earth millions of
years ago.
Batubara, minyak dan gas alam adalah
bahan bakar fosil. Mereka terbentuk dari
organisme mati yang terkubur di bawah
lapisan bumi jutaan tahun yang lalu.
EXPLOR
E
What are the
advantages of
coal over wood as
a fuel source?
Oil is processed in oil refineries (kilang minyak)
to obtain petrol (bensin) , diesel (solar) and other
kinds of fuels for many vehicles and machines.

Petrol is used to power some

cars.

Floating oil rigs drill into the

sea floor for oil.
Fossil fuels cannot be
replaced. It is important
that we use them carefully.

Natural gas is sent to homes for

cooking and heating.
The stove heats up food using

for some vehicles.
03
How can we
conserve our natural
resources?
Some natural resources cannot be renewed
(diperbaharui) or replaced. These resources may
run out due to overuse by Man.

It is important to three R’s (reduce, reuse and

recycle) the materials we obtain from our
natural resources where possible.
We can reuse plastic bottles as
plant pots.

We can reduce our use of water

by turning the tap off properly.

We can recycle different types

of things by using the correct
bins.
Fossil Fuels

Fossil fuels are an example of a natural resource

that cannot be renewed. Conserving fossil fuels
will help ensure that we have enough for future
generations.

The burning of fossil fuels causes air pollution.

We can help reduce the amount of air pollution
by using less fossil fuels.
We can walk to school instead
of taking a car.

We can also take public

transport such as a bus
We can cycle to nearby places or a train.
instead of taking a car.
Plants
We can conserve our forest by stopping the illegal
cutting down of trees and by preventing forest
fires. We can also plant more trees.

Trees need time to grow . We

should plant them and continue
to care for them.
Metal
Unlike wood, metal is material that cannot be
replaced. We can conserve the amount of metal
in our environment by reusing or recycling
object made from metal.

Steel can be recycled to make

some types of pipes.
