a. Respiratory System

When respiratory tract is infected


with disease, it will greatly affect
one’s well –being.
Various disorders interrupt the
normal functioning of the
respiratory system caused mostly
by cigarette smoking.
Bronchitis
is an inflammation of
the lining of the
bronchial tubes
caused by viruses or
bacteria.
Emphysema

occurs when the air sacs are


enlarged and damaged,
which reduces the surface
area for the gas exchange.
Asthma

is the condition of bronchioles with


widespread narrowing of the bronchial
airways, which leads to cough, wheezing
and difficulty in breathing.
Cough
an ailment that keeps
mucus and foreign
bodies from reaching
and harming the lungs.
Colds
a viral infection that causes inflammation of the membranes of our air passages
Tuberculosis
is an infectious
disease of the lungs
caused by
Mycobacterium
tuberculosis.
Lung Cancer
a disorderly cell growth in
the lungs caused by viral
infection or environmental
factors such as carcinogens
and radiation.

Cardiovascular disorders are one
of the leading causes of death
among people.
Hypertension
• High blood pressure or hypertension
is caused by many factors such as
taking too much salt in the diet.
• There is also a greater chance to have
a high blood pressure when a person
is overweight.
• Too much Stress is also a factor that
can lead to this condition.
• If left untreated, hypertension can
develop into more serious medical
problems such as:

Disease
• caused by building of fats along
the inner walls of the arteries of
the heart which narrows the
arteries and reduces blood flow

Arteriosclerosis • literally means the hardening of arteries caused
by the build-up of fatty plaques and cholesterol.

Anemia • the most common type of anemia is iron deficiency anemia, which is
caused by the lack of iron in the diet.

• is a type of cancer of the bone
marrow.
• A leukemia patient produces too
many immature blood cells that
are abnormally shaped and
cannot perform their usual
duties.

Eat well – balanced and low – fat diet
Exercise regularly
Maintain your ideal body weight
Have your blood pressure checked regularly
Avoid smoking cigarettes or staying with smokers
Always maintain proper hygiene
Live in a clean environment
Have a positive outlook in life
