Resilience Based Design
Resilience-based design is a proactive and comprehensive approach to
designing infrastructure, buildings, and systems with the primary objective
of enhancing their ability to withstand and recover from a wide range of
potential hazards and disruptions.

Resilience-based Design for Earthquakes
• Earthquakes are one of the most common
and destructive natural hazards.
• Resilience-based design for earthquakes
includes principles such as redundancy,
diversity, and flexibility.
• Examples include the use of seismic
isolation bearings and modular
components.
