STIPPLING

Plate No. 5: Stippling and Application

Plate Description: This is an exercise with the use of pen in Stippling. Stippling is
a technique that incorporates several small circles or dots in the same color to create
a composition. This involves building up the density of dots by repetitive stippling
strokes.

Materials:
Sketchpad
HB pencil (For guidelines)
Tech pen (0.1 or 0.2)
Triangles
Eraser
Activity Objectives: By the end of this activity, the
students will be able to familiarize with pen and ink
techniques (LO2), apply value gradation using cross
hatching, scumbling and stippling (LO3), and apply
the techniques in pen and ink renderings to still life,
entourage or scapes (LO4)

INSTRUCTIONS
•Draw the border lines, title and name blocks in Ink. The letterings
should also be done in ink.
•Draw the three boxes for the exercises. Divide the space after the
borderlines into 3 equal parts and measure the height of each box
equivalent to 5.5 cm
•Apply the dots according to the given directions, gradating the value
from darkest to lightest.
•For the application, you may choose your own still life subject.
•The subject should be free standing and will be drawn within a
16.00 cm x 16.00 cm. box
