PANIC ALARM
PANIC ALARM
What is a Panic Alarm ?
A panic alarm is an electronic device designed to assist in
alerting somebody in emergency situations where a threat to
persons or property exists.

DESIGN OF
PANIC
ALARM
Economical & Simple:
This circuit is made with a low cost hardware using IC
555 timer, buzzer, a few resistors and capacitors. It is
made to be working reliably as it has simple to use
and not so sensitive hardware like 555 timer, ceramic
buzzer, capacitors, etc.
User Friendly:
It is very user friendly with a single button to be
pressed to handle the panicking situation without any
trouble.
Connection
of Panic
Alarm
 Place the 555 timer IC on the breadboard.
 Connect Pin 8 of 555 timer to VCC of battery.
 Connect Pin 1 of 555 timer to GND of battery.
 Use Jumper wire to connect Pin 6 and Pin 2 of 555 timer IC.
 Use 22K Ω resistor to connect Pin 7 and Pin 2 of 555 timer IC.
 Connect the 10uF capacitor between Pin 2 and GND.
 Connect 1K Ω resistor between Pin 4 and GND.
 Connect 100K Ω resistor between Pin 7 and VCC
 Connect the 100pF capacitor between Pin 5 and GND.
 Connect the Button/Switch between Pin 4 and Pin 8 of the 555 timer
IC.
 Connect Buzzer between Pin 3 and GND,
 Connect the battery and test the circuit
WORKING OF PANIC ALARM
 The IC 555 is used in the Monostable mode with the frequency depending on the values of resistors R2, R3 and C2. The
values of R2 = 100KΩ, R3 = 22KΩ and C2 = 10µF.

 We have made this circuit using low-cost electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, 555 timer IC and a small
buzzer. The main component of this circuit is 555 timer IC which is operating in monostable mode. We can change the
frequency of the circuit by changing the value of resistors (100K &22K) and capacitor (10uF). Although the power will
be supplied to the 555 timer all the time, but the alarm will only work when the button is pressed and a high voltage is
given to Pin 4 of the IC.

User Friendly:
 It is very user friendly with a single button to be pressed to handle the panicking situation without any trouble.
