• Lower jaw(mandible) in women 30-40 yrs
• Unerupted ,permanent,molar tooth,most
commonly upper or lower third molar tooth

Dentigerous cyst
• Cyst lined by squamous epithelium, surrounded
by connective tissue
• Within the cyst  tooth lies obliquely or
 embedded in cyst wall
• As it grows further,cyst displaces the tooth
Tooth deeper and prevented from eruption
Clinical features
• Absence of tooth
• Expansion of mandible
Bone thinned outegg-shell crackling
Diagnosis
X-ray mandible orthopantomogram(OPG)
1. Tooth in the cyst
2. Soap-bubble appearance
3. Radiolucent well defined swelling
Treatment
• Small cyst-excision of cyst by intraoral approach
• Large cyst-marsupialisation.
(removes cystsOnce the cyst has been
opened and drained, the edges are sutured together to form a
permanently open “pocket” or “pouch” that allows fluid to
drain easily)
