Most of the
times nouns
form their
plural using
the ending -s-

If noun in a singular
form ends with -x-
(box), -ss- (class), -
o- (tomato), -ch-
(sandwich), -sh-
BUT
(fish), then in the EXCEPTIONS:
a photo – photos
plural it ends with - a piano – pianos
es- a zoo – zoos
a stereo – stereos
a radio – radios
a video – videos
a tobacco – tobaccos
a kilo - kilos

If a singular noun
ends with -f- (wolf)
or -fe- (wife), then
in the plural –f/fe-
changes to -ve- and
the ending is added
-s-

* 3. Thief → Thieves
* 4. Wolf → Wolves
* 5. Knife → Knives
* 6. Life → Lives
* 7. Loaf → Loaves
* 8. Scarf → Scarves
* 9. Half → Halves

If the noun ends with a letter -y- and the letter before
the consonant (city), then -y- changes to -i- and -es- is
added: city – cities, lady – ladies, country – countries.
BUT
If there is a vowel (monkey) before –y-, then you don’t
need to change anything, just add the ending -s-:
monkey – monkeys, donkey – donkeys, toy – toys.
