THE FORM
of the Present Simple Passive

English is spoken everywhere.


(active: They speak English everywhere.)

Presents are given at Christmas.


(active: People give presents at Christmas.)

My room is cleaned every Saturday.


(active: I clean my room every Saturday.)

THE RULE
Verb to be

(am, is, are) + past participle


(Ved, VIIIf)
WHEN DO WE USE IT
o When we are NOT interested in who did
a certain action
o When we do NOT know the person who
performed the action
o We use the passive, when we are
interested in WHAT happened or
happens to people or objects.
