What it’s about
A worldwide competition that’s endorsed by Yale

of skills include:
● Debating skills and communication skills
● Critical thinking skills
● Teamwork skills and Independence
simultaneously
There are many independent and team challenges
that each scholar will participate in. The following
slides will go into detail on these events.
Competition Structure
Every year, there are 3 rounds in which students
can qualify and participate in. These include:

● Regional Round – held in various cities and

regions around the world.

● Global Round – held at major cities around the

world and only include scholars that have
qualified from the Regional Round.

● Tournament of Champions – held at Yale

University and only includes scholars that
have qualified from the Global Round.
Challenges
In each round, there are challenges that each
scholar must participate in. Some events are
individual, and some are team challenges. These
include:

● Team Debate

● Scholar’s Bowl

● Scholar’s Challenge

● Collaborative Writing
Team Debate
2 teams of 3 scholars are sent to a room with a
judge that presents the scholars with a motion.

The motion is related to the topics provided by the

WSC, although nothing completely confusing.

The 3 speakers from each team will have 15

minutes to create a persuasive argument for or
against the motion.

Scholar’s Bowl
Every team will be in a theater or auditorium.

Every team will receive a clicker device.

Multiple-choice Questions will be displayed to

everyone in the auditorium on a big screen.

Work together with your teammates to answer

every question correctly. Every answer your team
gets correct, your team earns points. (very
important fr)
Scholar’s Challenge
An individual multiple-choice quiz.

You will be tested on the topics given by the WSC

on their website.

During the test, you can have more than one

answer to a question. If you aren’t sure on an
answer, then you can fill in answer twice and
receive ½ points if you do get the right answer.

(If the answer is A and you fill in A, B and C. Then

you get 1/3 of the point)
Collaborative Writing
Your team will be given 6 prompts related to the
topics given by the WSC.

Your team needs to pick 3 of the 6 and each of

your team members need to pick different
prompts.

Your team can then prepare together without the

use of devices and then individually write a poem,
or a persuasive argument, or an essay. Anything
really.
(Just write something good)
