Bhatkhande Music
Institute

• Initially the institute got it’s name as marris college of


music, which was established on 15th july, 1926 by
renowned singer and musicologist, Vishnu Narayan
Bhatkhande.
• It was renamed as Bhatkhande Music Institute on 26th
March, 1966 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as it took
over this institute. It was declared a deemed university by
University Grants Commission in 2000.

• It offers music education in vocal music, instrumental


rhythms, dance musicology, and research and applied
music. The institute works in the compilation of Bhddhist
literature, manuscripts, research journals, their
developmental studies and translation into Indian and
other foreign languages. It is the first music university of
Uttar Pradesh.

Natak Academy

• It was established on 13th November, 1963 in Lueknow. The


academy functions as the apex body of the performing arts,
expressed in music and darma.
• It conducts classes of various Bollywood, B-Boying, Hip-
Hop, Locking Popping, etc.
• It also organises a host of events followed by fests that
feature stage shows.
Ravindralaya

• It was established in 1964 in Charbagh in Lucknow. It is an


important auditorium of the city.
Bhartendu
Natya Academy

• It is a theatre tranning institute in Lucknow established in


1975. It is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry
of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
• The academy provides professional training through 2 years
diploma in filk theatre and drama. It established ‘Rang
Mandal’ in 1988.

Kathak Institute

• It was established as an autonomous institute in 1989 in


Lucknow by Cultural Department.
• The institute encourages different Gharana of national
platform. The institute also offers courses in Hindustani
classical music (vocal) and Pakhawaj.
