Khajuraho Khajuraho • The Khajuraho Dance Festival began in 1975 to

Kalidas that is acquainted with literary giants of Sanskrit
Samaroh such as Kalidas, Vatsyayana, Bhartrihari, and
appreciated Hindi writers like Shivmangal Singh
Suman, Prabhakar Machve, Gajanan Madhav
Muktibodh, and Pandit Surya Narayan Vyas.
• The Akhil Bhartiya Kalidas Samaroh is held every
year in the winter season.
• Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India's first President
inaugurated the festival when it was held for
the first time in the year of1958.
• The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru did the honors of
inaugurating the second Akhil Bharatiya Kalidas
Samaroh in Ujjain.

Indian classical music industry.

Allauddin Maihar, • Indian Classical Music


Khan Sangeet Satna • Allauddin Khan Sangeet Samaroh in Maihar,
Samaroh Satna, India is an ode to Ustad Allauddin Khan.
• This program is organized by the Ustad
Allauddin Khan Sangeet Academy in
collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh
Sanskriti Parishad, the district administration as
well as the local people.
• Allauddin Khan Sangeet Samaroh in Maihar
offers a chance to witness presentations by
several artists of Indian classical music.
• Allauddin Khan Sangeet Samaroh of Maihar is a
three-day festival that is organized in the
month of February every year.

Ameer Khan Indore • The Ameer Khan Festival is one of the cultural

Rashtriya Bhopal • A famous platform for the promotion of Hindi


Hindi Natya theatre, this natya samaroh (celebration of
Samaroh theatre) has commanded performances by
some great artists.
• Many superb theatre companies showcase their
repertoires here, thus attracting a wide and
varied audience.

Pachmarhi Pachmarhi • Indian Fold Art’s performances


Utsav • Held every year for six days beginning the 25th
of December, the Pachmarhi Utsav is nothing
short of a carnival.
• There are cultural programmes, comedy shows,
folk dances, and even sports activities,
essentially, something for everyone.

Mandu Utsav Mandu • The festival provides a chance to indulge in


some adventure activities like ATV bike,
paragliding, rifle shooting, parasailing etc. and
witness cultural performances by eminent
artists.

Mandu City

• It is a world-famous picturesque tourist


destination located in Dhar district of Madhya
Pradesh and adorned with Afghan
architecture surrounded by baobab trees, native
to Africa.

Orchha Utsav Orchha • A new festival ‘Namaste Orchha’, an initiative


by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board to
promote the state as a leading tourism
destination in India, kicked off in the ancient
and quaint town here, on Friday evening.
• The Madhya Pradesh government plans to
develop the ancient Ram Raja Temple in Orchha
into a major pilgrimage and tourist attraction on
the lines of Somnath Temple, Tirumala Tirupati
and Golden Temple.

Bhavbhuti Gwalior  Sanskrit’s Literary Programmes


Samaroh  Bhavbhuti Samaroh in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
is one of the oldest festivals held in the city of
Gwalior.
 Gwalior with its integral association with the
musicians of worldwide reputation has a strong
musical background.
 One such cultural festival is the Bhavbhuti
Samaroh in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
Malwa Utsav Ujjain and  Folk Arts and Indian Classical Music
Indore  Malwa Utsav is one of the biggest, largest and
most spectacular events in Madhya Pradesh.
 Dance and music performances are the most
integral part of the festival.
 Performers from different parts of the world
come to Indore & Ujjain to be part of this
spectacular celebration of art, music, dance,
drama and culture.
 One can even say that the festival is the
storehouse of culture and dance.

Ramleela Mela Parts of  Although ramleelas are held in every part of the
MP, country, Gwalior has its unique place with
Gwalior theatrical extravaganza.
 Traditionally ramleelas portray the victory of
Lord Rama over Ravana, and in extension, of
good over evil.
 This dramatic musical concludes with an effigy
of Ravana being set on fire, followed by a
fireworks display.

 Nimar Utsav is the annual 3-day event that is
held at Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh around
Kartik Purnima (November).
 The festivities comprise music, dance, and
drama and activities such as boating and
canoeing.
 It is organized and celebrated on the banks of
the holy river Narmada.

Bhagoria Haat Jhabuaa  Celebrated in the month of March, just before
Festival and West Holi, Bhagoria is a festival observed by the Bhil
Nimar tribe of Madhya Pradesh.
 Although it is primarily a harvest festival, its
most popular draw is the haat, which is
organised in the form of a swayamvar (an age-
old practice, where a woman would choose a
groom from several suitors).
 Young men and women come here to find
partners and ritualistically elope, after which
they are recognised as a married couple by the
society.

Lokranjan Khajuraho  Organised by the Adivasi Lok Kala Academy,


Lokranjan is popularly known as the Khajuraho
Festival of Dances.

Chethiyagiri Sanchi  One can see the massive moment of Buddhist


Vihara Festival monks and followers during the Chethiyagiri
Vihara Festival to Sanchi.
 People come here to see the relics of the two
great disciples of the Buddha, Sariputta, and
Mahamogallena.
 All these relics were founded in the stupa no 3
of Sanchi in the year 1853.
 Nowadays, these artifacts of great Buddhist
people are displayed just for this festival and
pilgrims come from around the world to pay
homage to them.

Rare Bad Bhopal  It is a unique ceremony of its kind in the country

Simhastha Fair Ujjain  Regarded as one of the seven sacred cities in
(Kumbh) Hindu culture, Ujjain hosts the world-famous
Kumbh Mela every 12 years.
 Ujjain is one of those places in India where
Kumbh Mela takes place.
 The festival is organized four times in every
twelve years in the four cities of India-
Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain or Nasik.
 Kumbh Mela commemorates the victory of
good in the battle of supremacy against the
evil.
 A dip in the holy Shipra River washes away
all the sins and ends the cycle of rebirth.

Mandhata Omkareshwar  Godarpura, also called Mandhata or


Fair/ Omkareshwar.
Godarpura Fair  It is focused mainly on the island of
Mandhata in the Narmada River, about (65
km) southeast of Indore.
 The town of Omkareshwar (or Omkarji)
lies adjacent to the island on the south side
of the river.
