art forms alive.
Dress code in Odisha

 Odisha is known for its vibrant and colorful clothing. The


traditional dress for women is the Saree, which is draped around
the body and worn with a blouse and petticoat. Men wear the Dhoti
and Kurta, which is a long tunic worn over the Dhoti.
Men’s dress code in Odisha:
Dhoti:- Dhoti, which is worn in different religions, different places and on different
occasions but in Odisha, it is very important for their people. This is worn during
their traditional rituals and their dhoti's design is something different.
Kurta:-Kurta is worn in every place like a traditional programmes, rituals and
wedding ceremonies. People of any age can wear a kurta like children, men and the
oldest person.
Sherwani:-Many men in Odisha prefer to wear a sherwani at their wedding instead
of the traditional Kurta Pyjama. Sherwani in Odisha can be an embroidered variation
of Kurta and pyjama, just like in other regions of the nation. Sherwani gives the
perfect and classic look to the groom.

SAMBALPURI SAREE:
The most popular of sarees from Orissa, Sambalpur ikat uses what the locals call
Bandhkala or yarn tie-dye method.

BOMKAI OR SONEPURI SAREE:


Bomkai silk sarees are a treasure to own. Often woven in soft silk, the Bomkai saree
uses a combination of Ikat weaving along with silk or resham thread embroidery on
the pallav and the border.

PASAPALI SAREE : Woven in Bargarh in Orissa, the Saktapar or Pasapalli saree


is an ikat saree.
FOOD OF ODISHA
1. PAKHALA BHATA: It is prepared by soaking cooked rice in curd
and water.
2. DAHI VADA-ALOO DUM: famous in cuttack. While everywhere
else, dahi vada and aloo dum considered to be two separate dishes,
Odisha offers a distinctive blend of the both.
3. CHENNA PODA: Odisha's very own cheesecake! This is known to
be Lord Jagannath's favourite sweet and is often offered to him at
the Puri Temple.
4. RASAGOLA: The Rasoaolla from Odisha is super popular for all
the right reasons, and more! It has been a hot topic considering its
battle of origin with Bengal.
5. MUDI MANSA: It's goat's meat that is marinated in oil and a
whole lot of spicesServed hot with crunchy Mudhi or puffed rice.
6. CHAKULI PITHA: Chakuli Pitha is a renowned dish from Odisha
that is quite like a Dosa, yet different. It is prepared using a batter
made with equal portions of lentils (Urad Dal) and rice.
PATTACHITRA
 Pattachitra is a traditional painting of Odisha, India.[1] These
paintings are based on Hindu mythology and specially inspired by
Jagannath and Vaishnava sect.[12] All colours used in the Paintings are
natural and paintings are made fully old traditional way by
Chitrakaras that is Odiya Painter. Pattachitra style of painting is one
of the oldest and most popular art forms of Odisha. The name
Pattachitra has evolved from the Sanskrit words patta, meaning
canvas, and chitra, meaning picture. Pattachitra is thus a painting
done on canvas, and is manifested by rich colourful application,
creative motifs, and designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly
mythological in depiction.[13] The traditions of pattachitra paintings
are more than thousand years old.
