Introduction

India is a country with a rich heritage and


vibrant culture. The Indian culture is unique
and varied. India’s religions, dance, music, food,
languages, architecture and customs differ from
place to place within the country. It is the most
popular tourist spots in terms of culture and
heritage.
Foods of India

The traditional food of India has been


widely appreciated for its fabulous
use of herbs and spices. Indian cuisine
is known for its large assortment of
dishes. Punjabi food include mainly
lassi, Gujarati food include mainly
dhokla, khandvi, Bengali food include
fish, South Indian food is idli, sambhar
and in Maharashtra, modak is eaten a
sweet. Gol gappas are famous all
over India.
Religions in India

India has 28 states with different


culture. It has many religions followed by
its people like Buddhism, Muslim,
Christian, Sikh, Sindhi, Parsi, Janism and
the most important Hinduism. According
to 2011 census, 79.8% of the
population of India practice, Hinduism,
Muslim(14.2%), Christianity(2.3%),
Sikhism(1.7%), Buddhism(0.7%), and
Jainism(0.4%).
Clothing/Traditional dresses
India has a rich tradition of clothing and
ethnic wear. Traditionally the dress for
Indian women is sari. In Punjab the
traditional dress is Salwar Kameez and
in Rajasthan it is Ghagra Choli. In
Kerala, men wear lungi and women
wear Mundum Neriyathum. In
Maharashtra, women wear sari in
kachha style and in Gujarat, women
wear sari in front pallu style. In West
Bengal, men traditionally wear Dhoti
and Kurta. The women traditionally
wear a white saree with red border.

Dances

India has a very rich culture of dance


and music. The traditional dances of
India include Kathak of Uttar Pradesh,
Bhangra of Punjab, Kathakali and
Mohiniyattam of Kerala, Kuchipudi of
Andhra Pradesh, Manipuri of Manipur
and Dandiya of Gujarat.
