Aspects of South Indian culture
 India is well known for “unity in diversity”. It is a land of
diverse culture.now we goto see southern part of indian
culture.
 South india comprises tamilnadu, kerala,
andhrapradesh, karnataka, and telangana.
Clothes
 Traditional attire for Women is sarees.The color,
texture and style of sari are quite different.
 Pattu pavadai worn by girl kids. Young girls wear half –
saree
 Dhoti for men.
Food Habits
 South indian dishes are prepared with rice as base
ingredient. Their food are rich in probiotics. Especially
idly and dosa. Fermentation improves digestion and
immune system.
 People have a taste for spicy food. Food rich with
pulses, which improve protein quality.
 Food is served on a fresh banana leaf. It is good for our
health.
Traditional Music and Dance
 South india is known as carnatic music. Musical
instruments like mirudangam, tambura, violin, veena,
kanjira are key to the presentation of carnatic music. It
includes melodious, mostly devotional.
 Dances
 Bharatanatiyam from TamilNadu.
 Kathakali from kerala.
 Kuchipudi from Andhra Pradesh
Great Festivals
 Diwali, People decorated with diya, the festival of
lights. Mahamaham, celebrated once in 12 years.
 Harvest Festival
 Pongal –It is celebrate in tamilnadu over four days.
 Onam- held in kerala.This is a ten day celebration.
 Ugadi – celebrated in Andhra and karnataka
