Dune
A mythic and emotionally charged
hero's journey, "Dune“ 2021,
directed by Denis Villeneuve , tells
the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant
and gifted young man born into a
great destiny beyond his
understanding, who must travel to
the most dangerous planet in the
universe to ensure the future of his
family and his people. As
malevolent forces explode into
conflict over the planet's exclusive
supply of the most precious
resource in existence-a commodity
capable of unlocking humanity's
greatest potential-only those who
can conquer their fear will survive.
Chosen 10 Minutes
• Time interval: 55:00 to 1:05:00
Summary
• In chosen 10 minutes scene sequence the party flies out to observe a spice
mining operation. The mining vehicle -- a "sandcrawler" -- has attracted a
worm, which is drawn by the rhythmic vibrations of the crawler as it collects
the spice. When a flying carry-all fails to remove the mining vehicle, Duke
Leto lands his small squad of ornithopters nearby to rescue the miners.
When Paul gets out to guide the miners inside, he is hit with a massive
dose of spice and has a series of visions including one of himself with
Chani. He is nearly sucked down into the sand with the crawler when
Gurney grabs him and hauls him aboard his father's ornithopter.
Eye-Line Match
• A technique based on the idea that viewers want to see what on-screen
characters are seeing. For example, if a character is looking intently at an
off-screen object, the following shot will be of that object.
• Eyeline match technique is used here to show viewers the conversation of
team members with Paul.

Time : 56:00:00 to 56:16:00

Eye Line Match
Shot Reverse Shot
• The alternating of over-the-shoulder-shots, usually used during a
conversation between two characters.
• Here shot reverse shot technique is used while shooting the conversation
scene when Liet Kynes meet the team to inspect their still suit.
Shot Reverse Shot
Cut Away
• A cutaway shot is a type of camera angle that cuts away from the main
scene to show something else.
• The term cutaway shot is usually applied when the camera switches from
one scene and cuts away to another that has little relevance to the previous
scene.
• Here cut away is use to switch the scene from training room to spice mining
operation to switch the viewers directly to main scene.
Cut Away
Dissolve transition
• When the end of one shot overlaps the start of the next one to create a
gradual scene transition.
• Here dissolve transition is applied when Paul is getting flash back of he girl
and he is about to become unconscious.
• Time 1:06:10 to 1:06:20
