UTILIZTAION FY 2022-23 &
WORK PLAN FOR FY 2023-24
 INTRODUCTION
Karenga town council has a total road length of 78km. It
includes 48km already opened and 30km pegged but not yet
opened.
Karenga town council received funding from URF through the
district worth twenty-one million four hundred eighty-six
thousand nine hundred sixty-three shillings only (21,486,963/=)
in third quarter. The planned figure for the entire financial year
was thirty-nine million four hundred eighteen thousand seven
hundred shillings only (39,418,700/=).
 ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED FY 2022-23
• Mechanized maintenance of 7.2km roads within the heart of the
town i.e. Paul Lemukol Road, Itongoped Rise, Lokodope Rise,
Police to Nakidiir road, Napeikori H1 and Lokodope H2 at a
total cost of 11,260,000/=
• Routine manual road maintenance of 8.6km roads within
Karenga Town Council comprising of New Karenga rise 1 and
2, New Karenga H1, Lorwama-Kangole Road, Lorwama Rise 1,
Kangole South Rise 1 and 2, Lokodope H3 at a total cost of
10,226,963/=
 CHALLENGES FACED
• Poor drainages within town council roads because of the
topography and landscape of the area.
• Little funding by URF compared to the volume of work to
be accomplished.
• Lack of equipment to do the roads work. This has created
dependency to equipment from Kidepo AND sometimes
Kaabong DLG which is associated with delays.
 CHALLENGES FACED CONT’
• Negative attitudes of some of the community members on
development of roads within karenga town council
• Operating without a physical plan for the town. This makes
execution of works difficult.
• Budget cuts by the ministry, this has affected some planned
activities.
• Delay in transfer of funds from the district to town council.
