 The Course Objectives
The course objectives is:-

 In this Subject, you will learn on how to

identify various types of office machines, how
to operate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform all
forms of maintenances on photocopies, printers,
scanners, facsimiles, and other digital devices.
 Maintenance overview

 Maintenance is combination of action
carried out to retain a facility or restore to
acceptable standard.

 There are three form of maintenance which are

 Preventive maintenance.

 Corrective maintenance.

 Replacement maintenance

 When you want to be a Maintenance
personal, you must have:-
- Set of screw drivers
- Combination pliers
- Cutting pliers
- Digital and analog Malt meter
- Spirit
- Lubrication oil
- Soldering iron
- Soldering wire
- Liquid soap
- etc.

What is photocopy machine?
 Is a type of office machine
which is used to produce a
hard copy from hard copy.
Examples of photocopy
machines include GP 405
Canon, Image runner (IR
400), Kyocera mita 1620,
Kyocera Task 300ci, Duple
DP 1000, etc.
 Installation of Photocopy machine

 Is a process where by a new photocopy machine will be set in

order to work properly .

 In the process of installation of a new copy machine, before any

thing you must check the NAME PLATE DATA, which show how
much voltage, current, frequency and power required in a
machine in order to avoid over voltage.

 After that in other photocopy machine you can go to service mode

in order to install tone and developer if it is required

 Control Panel
. Is a part of photocopy machine which is used to control all

activities of machine during operation of machine such as to start
copying, to reduce or enlarge copy, and to increase or to
decrease toner.
 Control Panel
.
 The following include control panel keys and their functions.

 Copy start key : is used to allow the machine to start copying

when change green color.
 Reset key: is used to turn the copier to standard mode
 Stop key (red color): is used to stop the copier during coping
process
 Clear key: is used to delete the number of copier settled
 Numerical key: is used to input the number of copy
 Interrupt key: is used to stop machine during copying process
with out lose its memory number of copy
 Material used during copying process
During copying process two materials are used which are -:
 Paper : these are plan papers, they differ in size . Examples A4 paper, A3, A5
and B5, so due to this condition you have to change the size of cassette or tray
according to the size of paper.
How to store paper:
 Avoid store papers in humidity areas, e.g. near source of water
 Store paper on a flat surface
 Don’t lay heavy object on the paper
 Don’t store paper near open flames

 Toner : is a material which is black in color it is made by dry black pigments

which contain iron particles and black powder.
How to store toner:
 Store in a cool dry place
 Keep out of reach by children and other people
 Don’t store toner near open flames
 Warning indicators and required action

.
 The following indication are used to help operator or technician
during the operation of machine.
 LOAD PAPER : when this indicator displays on the control panel
it means that there is no plain paper in the cassette or cassette
out of order so you are required to add the plain paper in the
cassette then insert in its position.

 ADD TONER: When the control panel indicate flashes, this

means that toner supply is low. Add toner using the procedures
 Warning indicators and required action

.
 JAM PAPER: When this indicator flashes on the control panel it
means paper has jammed inside the copier, so remove all jammed
paper.

 ERROR INDICATOR (E001): if machine error occurs or if

copier does not functioning normally the letter E and a number
will display on the control panel LCD, So you must clear that
error by using service mode.
