Dear James,

You’re writing to a friend or relative so you can

be chatty and friendly in your opening paragraph.
In your first paragraph you could tell your friend or
relative some exciting news…

Dear James,
How are you? I hope that you are doing fine. I am writing to tell you all
about my birthday party which you were unable to attend.

In your second paragraph you could tell your friend

or relative more about the topic – Give details…

In your third paragraph you can write about your

feelings and say goodbye to your friend and ask
him/her to write you back.
At the end of your letter, don’t forget to sign off.

Because you know them well,

say goodbye in a friendly way…

Your best friend

Nigel Finally, sign your

name.

Dear Samia

I hope this letter finds you in the best of health. I have missed you this vacation and I
would really like to thank you for being a really good friend to me.

We have been friends since primary 1 and you have always been kind to me. Moreover
you share your food with me and we always play and hang out together at school. But
most importantly, you always cheer me up when I feel sad.

I hope you will always be my best friend, even when we go to secondary school and
beyond. I really thank you for being there for me.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Your best friend

P.S. Mum will make cupcakes next weekend, I’ll bring one for you when school re-
opens next Monday.

you play sports? What will you do during your holiday?
etc.)
•Share about a place you visited.
•Ask for advice.
•Tell about a book you’ve just read that you think your
friend would also enjoy.

Remember to always use your best hand writing so that
