In this report aims to analyse the phenomenon of social media marketing and its impact on
the youth. The extensive use of social media platforms has revolutionised marketing
strategies, providing businesses with new opportunities to reach and engage their target
audience. However, it is essential to understand the implications and effects of these
marketing techniques on the youth, as they are a vulnerable segment of the population. This
report will examine various aspects of social media marketing and shed light on its influence,
benefits, challenges .

business. Social media modifies the communication methods
between sellers and buyers. E commerce influences the
consumer in their purchase decision. Communication through
social media is a new platform to exchange information about
product and services. The analysis of consumer behavior is
the core activity for selling product and service since most
consumers are using the internet and on-line social media
tools. Social media become an important media to introduce
and market products and also to do surveys. Nowadays Social
media is an important marketing tool for promotional
activities. Hence it becomes necessary to perceive how
Social media is affecting consumer behavior.

Negative Effects of Social Media

Many physiatrists believe that social media is a single factor causing


depression and anxiety. It is also a cause of poor mental growth in children.
Increased use of social media can lead to poor sleeping patterns. Many other
adverse effects include cyberbullying, body image issues, etc. There is an
increased ‘Fear of Missing out (FOMO) at an all-time high in youth because
of social media.

With nearly three billion people on Facebook, it has the most monthly users of any
platform and is vital to any digital marketing strategy. As it is owned and operated by
Meta, which owns and operates Instagram and WhatsApp, this means a brand can
work across platforms to reach a global audience.

•• Largest age group: 25-34 (31.5%)

Instagram Demographics & Usage:

Trailing right behind is Instagram, a photo-centric platform, with two billion
