THE RIASEC TEST

 RIASEC stands for 6 characteristics: Realistic, Investigative,
Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. The RIASEC test
asks questions about your aspirations, activities, skills, and
interests in different jobs to help you discover careers and fields of
study that are likely to satisfy you.
Introduction  Holland codes: Holland Codes and abbreviation RIASEC refer to
John Holland's six personality types: Realistic (R), Investigative (I),
Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E) and Conventional (C).
Holland’s Theory of Career Choice, choosing work or an education
program environment that matches, or is similar to your
personality, will most likely lead to success and satisfaction.
 The RIASEC Test is a self-report inventory that measures an
individual’s interests in the six areas of the RIASEC model. The test
Administration consists of 48 items, and each item asks the respondent to rate
their interest in a particular activity. The test takes about 15
minutes to complete.
 The RIASEC Test results are interpreted by assigning each
respondent a code consisting of one letter from each of the six
areas. For example, a person who scores high in Realistic and
Interpreting Investigative and low in the other areas might have a code of RII.
The code can be used to help people identify careers that are a
the RIASEC good fit for their personality type.
Test  six theme codes: It goes by many names and is often referred to as
the RIASEC model. The initials represent the six theme codes:
Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and
Conventional.
 Add up the number of filled in circles in each column and then add
the two columns together for a grand total.
 Using your grand total scores from above, transfer the scores for
Scoring each letter into the appropriate column.
 Taking the assessment can be the first step in finding success and
satisfaction at work. Here are some examples of possible three-letter
personality codes with suggestions for career direction:
 SEC: If someone discovers they're social, enterprising and
conventional, they might benefit from a position in sales. This
profession would allow them to communicate with others, act as a
leader and work with numbers.
 RIE: A realistic, investigative and enterprising professional might leave
Assessment a desk job to explore a research position. They can find more
fulfillment in this role because of the hands-on work and problem-
solving opportunities.
 ASE: Someone who is artistic, social and enterprising can leverage
their creativity and empathy in their career. For instance, they might
work as a graphic designer for a nonprofit that advocates for social
change.
 ISC: People with this code are investigative, social and conventional.
They think deeply about social problems and value order and
structure, meaning they often thrive in fields like health care.
