INTRODUCTION:

• This project aims to develop a smart cooling system for milk transportation in
rural areas using DHT11,Relay,Fan,LCD Display, and Arduino .The system will
consists of an Arduino microcontroller that will read data from the DHT11
temperature and humidity sensor. Based on readings, the microcontroller will control
the fan and relay to maintain a constant temperature inside the milk container.

• The relay will be used to control the fan, and it will turned on or off based
on the readings from the sensor. The system will also have an alarm to alert the driver
if the temperature inside the container goes above or below the set threshold

IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT:

To deliver high quality milk.

Minimise the bacterial growth.
Reduce the spoil of milk.
Reduces the electrical consumption.
Increases the lifetime of milk.

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE:
Software
Arduino software:
• Arduino is a prototype platform (open-source) based on an easy-to-use hardware
and software.
• It consists of a circuit board, which can be programed and a ready-made software
called Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment), which is used to
write and upload the computer code to the physical board.

Arduino Software

Arduino Installation:
Step 1: First we must have our Arduino board and a USB cable .

Fig1: USB Cable

Step 2 : Download Arduino IDE Software.
We can get different versions of Arduino IDE from the Download page on the Arduino Official
website. We must select our software, which is compatible with your operating system (Windows,
IOS, or Linux). After file download is complete, unzip the file.
Step 3: Power up your board.
Connect the Arduino board to your computer using the USB cable. The green power LED
(labeled PWR) should glow.

Step 4: Launch Arduino IDE.
After our Arduino IDE software is downloaded, we need to unzip the folder. Inside the
folder, we find the application icon with an infinity label (application.exe). double-click
the icon to start the IDE.
Step 5: Open your first project.
Once the software starts, you have two options:
 Create a new project.
 Open an existing project example.
Step 6: Select your Arduino board.
Go to Tools -> Board and select our board.
Step 7: Select serial port and upload the program.

LCD : This LCD is used to display the numbers , characters .
In our project LCD displays whether the vehicle is authorized or un authorized. When the
student unauthorized vehicle enters in to the college it displays Un authorized vehicle. If
authorized vehicle enters its shows authorized vehicle.

DTH11 SENSOR : It is a basic ,ultra low cost digital temperature and humidity
sensor. It uses a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor to measure the surroundings
air, and spits out a digital signal on data pin.
BUZZER : The Arduino buzzer is a device that produces sound when an electric
current is passed through it. The Arduino buzzer can be directly connected to the
Arduino and produce different tones by giving different frequency electric pulses to the
buzzer.
RELAY: Relays are electrically operated switches that open and close the circuits by
receiving electrical signals from outside sources .
MOTOR:An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into
mechanical energy .

PROBLEM FORMULATION:
Proposed solution:
• Developed the smart cooling system for milk storage with chiller unit. As previously
mentioned, that the project consists of chiller unit, after getting chilled it is sent to the
final storage unit where it is packed and then transported to various locations. The storage
temperature has been set between 15 and 20 degree Celsius.

Existing solution:
• In existing solution the design and development of smart cooling system for milk
transportation in rural areas using DTH11 temperature and humidity sensor, based on the
temperature and humidity the relay controls the motor. The system will also have an alarm
to alert the driver if temperature inside the container goes above or below the set threshold .
