Projectile Motion

Overview
In Mechanics Year 1 we used SUVAT to analyse the motion of a particle projected
in one dimension either horizontally or vertically. In this chapter we extend this
to look at projectiles moving in a two dimensional plane.

1:: Horizontally projected 2:: Projection at any angle

“A particle is projected horizontally at “A cabbage is projected from ground

If an object is projected vertically upwards at an angle. It can be modelled as a

particle, ignoring air resistance, thus gravity will be the only force acting on it. If
we assume g is constant and acting downwards then acceleration is constant and
there is no force acting in the horizontal direction

Initial velocity may be given by the speed and angle of projection.
