BLIND SPOT

DEFINITION

• A 'blind spot' is something that a person does not fully, accurately, or clearly perceive. Nearly
everyone has blind spots where they perceive information incorrectly, incompletely, or in a
confusing or ambiguous manner. Blind spots refer to the tendency for people to base judgments
about events and other people on prior knowledge or preconceived notions. Throughout the
activity, we cannot rely just on the leader; instead, we may all contribute our ideas and
viewpoints.
EXAMPLE
• When members of a group, including the leader and
other team members, do one leg on both ends. At first,
everyone thinks that this movement looks easy, and no
time is reserved for learning it. In practice, it will be
difficult to lift one leg and upper body at the same
time, then it leading to failure. Actually this is an
abdominal exercise. We need to lie with arms straight
at the sides of the head, and abdominal muscles
working up. Lift your legs and upper body at the same
time, curl your back, and touch your hands to the front
of your calves. Keep your body tense as you lower it,
but don’t relax it all at once. This example reveals the
blind spot, which shows that everyone thinks the action
is easy and does not set aside time for it. This is related
to the lack of extensive knowledge of leaders and team
members, which may be caused by many reasons, such
as age and educational background. Such knowledge
can be expanded in many ways.
To sum up, a good leader should try their best to pay attention to all aspects of a thing. These
leaders should look at the same thing from different perspectives and try to understand all points
of view. If leaders ignore the views of certain people, it can lead to many problems.
All they have to do is communicate, and although effective communication is difficult but not
impossible. Leaders adjust communication by changing their perceptions and behaviors slightly
Methods and strategies can gradually form a positive influence in the team and the enterprise.
