Present perfect

have/has + the past participle.

We use the present perfect:
1. For something that started
2. When we are talking
in the past and continues in
the present:
about our experience up
to the present:

a. She has lived in Liverpool

all her life. a. I've seen that film before.
b. He has participated in
several BMX competitions

2
Have OR
has
The present perfect is formed from the
present tense of the verb have and the
past participle of a verb.

YOU HAVE + v3
THEY HAVE + v3

4
HE HAS +

v3 5
ever
We often use the adverb ever to talk about
experience up to the present:

My last birthday was the best day

I have ever had.
6
never
and we use never for the negative
form:
Have you ever met Leo?
Yes, but I've never met his wife.
7
The first element is have or has, depending on the
subject the verb is conjugated with.
The second element is the past participle of the verb,
which is usually formed by adding -ed or -d to the
verb’s root (e.g., walked, cleaned, typed, jumped,)
English does have verbs that have irregular past
participles (e.g., done, said, gone, thought, felt, eaten).
