Engineering Installation: Checklist
4T6S engineering installation includes site survey and antenna installation. The accuracy of engineering parameters of a live network is affected by manual input
errors and untimely information update and therefore the parameters are often inconsistent with the actual ones. Therefore, RF engineering parameters must be
further tested and confirmed during site survey, including the longitude and latitude of the antenna installation position, antenna model, azimuth, downtilt (mechanical
or electrical downtilt), and antenna height.

Engineering Installation: Visible Cable Sequence with Engineering Cardboard
and Labels in Non-Combination Scenarios
• Attach labels to both ends of each feeder when preparing feeders on site.
• Fasten the engineering cardboard and connect cables to the ports of the antenna according to the labels. After the connection is complete, remove the cardboard.
• Benefits: The cable sequence is visible. Cables can be connected based on labels, greatly reducing the probability of incorrect cable connection.

Engineering Installation: Visible Cable Sequence with Engineering
Cardboard and Labels in Non-Combination Scenarios
• The cable sequence when SDAs are used is the same as that when common split antennas are used.
• One split cell served by a common split antenna corresponds to four channels of one RRU, and two split cells served by an SDA
share eight channels of two RRUs.
• When SDAs are used, the channel calibration feeder is added. If two 4T4R RRUs are combined, the feeder is connected to the
RPCU. If one 8T8R RRU is used, the feeder is directly connected to the calibration port on the RRU.

Activation Observation

• Activation verification: Based on the uplink RSSI and RRU/RFU output power, check whether the uplink 4R/8R
and downlink 4T/8T have taken effect. If they have not taken effect, check the engineering connections and
parameter configurations onsite in a timely manner. When SDAs are used, the cell is configured as 8T8R with eight channels.

All of the four channels

have transmit power

All of the four channels

have receive power

• Alarm check and cell status check: If no new alarm is generated after splitting, the cell status is normal. Otherwise, rectify the fault
based on the corresponding prompt.
• Site verification:
 Check whether basic services of each site are normal.
 Check whether the antenna feeder is reversely connected. (Check whether the PCI distribution is consistent with that of engineering
parameters based on DT data.)
 Check whether cable connections are correct.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Page 31

4T6S Acceptance: General Principles

• General principles: Verify the solution by cluster, without differentiating frequency bands.
 The expected gains cannot be ensured for each split due to many factors, such as scenario satisfaction, UE distribution, traffic
model, user behavior, holidays, and counter fluctuations. Therefore, acceptance by cluster is preferred.
 If the 4T6S solution is deployed on a multi-band network, the acceptance should be performed on all frequency bands at a time.

• Acceptance criteria:
 Capacity: Virtual clusters are used for acceptance. These clusters only consist of split sectors, which may not be geographically
contiguous. Generally, cluster planning is performed based on delivery time and geographical areas. It is recommended that at least
20 sectors be involved and scatter charts be used for evaluation.
 Drive test: The methods are the same as those for verifying new sites. After 4T6S deployment, the average RSRP should be
equivalent to that for 2T3S/4T3S, and the average SINR is expected to be slightly lower than that for 2T3S/4T3S.
 KPI: After 4T6S deployment, basic KPIs (such as the RRC connection setup success rate, E-RAB setup success rate, service drop
rate, and handover success rate) remain stable during peak hours and slightly decrease during off-peak hours. Some counters, such
as the CQI, MCS index, and rank 2 proportion, decrease slightly.

Note: If non-Huawei multi-beam antennas are used, performance expectations will change, depending on antenna performance. No
acceptance commitment is made.

4T6S Acceptance: DT Evaluation Methods and Expectations

Main lobe
Main lobe Main lobe
• Gains brought by capacity solutions are mainly indicated
by peak-hour KPIs. However, peak-hour data rates during
DTs fluctuate greatly with traffic, so coverage (rather than
rates) is usually evaluated during DTs.

• Gain evaluation during DTs uses the common method for

new sites. Use DTs to assist evaluating coverage changes
after the reconstruction. The test route, software, period,
vehicles, UEs, and device placement must be exactly the  Coverage Evaluation Expectations
same before and after the reconstruction. Take 2T3S as the baseline of reconstruction.
• After 4T6S is deployed, the average RSRP increases by 0 dB
• After a multi-beam antenna is deployed, the coverage in to 2 dB according to the drive test result. The average SINR

enhanced. Therefore, for coverage evaluation, the test
route must cover all the paths in the main lobe directions.

4T6S Acceptance: KPIs
• Acceptance principles: Collect at least one week's hour-level data before and after the reconstruction and calculate KPIs using the FMA or PRS.
• Expected results: (User-plane intermediate KPIs may deteriorate, but overall user experience and traffic volume improve.)
 The basic KPIs (such as RRC setup success rate, E-RAB setup success rate, service drop rate, and handover success rate) remain stable during busy hours,
and their absolute values decrease by 0.1%–0.3% during off-peak hours.
 Due to the increase in cell interference, the absolute value of CQI decreases by 0–2, that of MCS index decreases by 1–3, and that of rank 2 ratio
decreases by 10%–20%.

4T6S Optimization: Engineering/Cable Connection Check
• Downtilt and azimuth check
 In RF planning of 4T6S sites, the azimuths and downtilt angles must inherit the original settings in principle. Based on the information and photos recorded
during deployment, check whether the installation is correct.
 It has been observed that at some sites in certain projects, the downtilt angles decreased after the reconstruction because of obsolete engineering
parameters and therefore the coverage was extended. As a result, the TA3 and TA4 percentages increased significantly, making the gains to be lower than
expected. The gains can meet expectations after the downtilt angles were tuned to ensure consistent coverage.

4T6S Optimization: Traffic Balancing Optimization
1. RF optimization (azimuth adjustment)
• Based on the evaluation accuracy of the current MR on traffic balancing between left and right cells, traffic imbalance may occur after the deployment, affecting the gain fulfillment.
In this case, you can adjust the RF azimuths for optimization.
• Take a case on the live network as an example. The initial ratio of UEs in the left cell to those in the right cell after cell splitting is 4:1, and the spectral efficiency increases by only
10.3%. After the azimuths are adjusted, the UE ratio is close to 1:1, and the spectral efficiency increases by 71.2%.

• Obtain the traffic ratio of the left and right cells in the whole day. If the UE numbers in the left and right split cells are severely unbalanced, adjust the antenna azimuths towards
the split cell with high traffic. It is recommended that the azimuths be adjusted at a granularity of 10 degrees. The more balanced the UEs in the left and right cells, the better the
split effect and the greater the gains.
2. Power sharing optimization (for SDAs)
• The fast power sharing function is introduced when 4T6S is deployed using SDAs and UEs are unevenly distributed in heavy-load scenarios. This function takes effect when the
following conditions are met:
 The SectorSplitGroup.PwrSharingHighLoadThld parameter is not set to 100.
v e rified
t o be
 The PRB usage of a heavy-load cell in the split cell group is greater than the SectorSplitGroup.PwrSharingHighLoadThld parameter value.
n group is greater than the SectorSplitGroup.PwrSharingLoadMultipleThld parameter value.
ctiocell
 The ratio of the load of a heavy-load cell to that of a light-load cell in a split
fu n
N w
• After fast power sharing is enabled, the power of non-QPSK/DMRSeUEs in heavy-load cells increases, and the power of non-QPSK/DMRS UEs in light-load cells decreases.
• Extreme power sharing is faster in such scenarios than in other scenarios. In addition, power is reduced in light-load cells to ensure that more power can be used by heavy-load
cells, improving the overall downlink user experience of the sector.
