INTRODUCTION

A human motion detector is utilized as a type of intruder alarm. Its purpose is to detect any movement
made by humans or animals in a particular limited area and then transmit a signal through an indicator.

This project focuses on the design and construction of an intruder alarm system using Arduino. The
system aims to provide an effective security solution for residential and small commercial applications.
This document presents a comprehensive guide from the initial setup to the implementation of the alarm
system, covering hardware selection, circuit design, programming, and testing.

The project is capable of detecting intrusion at 10m range location, sound and alarm. And the system is
powered from a mains supply. The result being a system which can detect intrusion, sound an audible
alarm. It has a wide a range of application in surveillance especially in industrial and home security.
BASIC OPERATION

This system is a basic activated alarm. It is built around an Arduino

microcontroller. It is connected to a PIR motion sensor, an alarm, a
resistor and a pair of external terminals. The whole system is AC
powered. Once you have the code, you can connect all the external
parts. The easiest way to do this is with a breadboard. This will let you
make temporary connections to test everything out before installing
THE BLOCK DIAGRAM OF THE
SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS

The power supply powers the Arduino board which is connected to the sensors.
The sensors detect any intrusion and send a signal to the Arduino board, which
activates the alarm system

components.
ADVANTAGES

1. The given system is handy and portable, and thus can be easily carried
from one place to another

2. The circuitry is not that complicated and thus can be easily

troubleshooted.

3. Easy to upgrade as per the user requirement

4. The operation of the system is very simple and can be used by anyone
with a basic knowledge.
DISAVANTAGES
1. The alarm activates only when the person cuts through the line of
the PIR sensor.
2. The given alarm system determines the presence of the intruder
only and does not determine how many persons are in there
actually.
3. The programming is a bit complex
4. High cost of purchasing the components
APPLICATIONS

This type of motion sensing alarm system can be easily employable for
security purposes at banks, various offices and even for sensitive
establishment such as for military. We can easily set up this system for
household purposes
