Introduction
Background of the Study
This study addresses environmental waste
problem and eco friendly product concerns
such as traditional floor waxes or polish.
Papaya peels are revealed to contain proteins, crude fiber, carbohydrates, and
essential minerals such as potassium.
Paya peels also contain significant levels of phytochemicals and among them
is Pectin, a key component to our research.
Background of the Study
One key aspect of this research is evaluating papaya peel's effectiveness as a
polish for different floor surfaces, specifically tiles and concrete.
Control Variable
Type of Surface
Papaya Peel Extract Preparation
Resistance to wear over time
Research Objectives
General Objectives:
To determine if there is a significant difference in the effectiveness of using papaya peels as
a natural polish for tiles compared to their effectiveness on concrete floors.
Specific Objectives:
To prepare papaya peel extract for polishing purposes.
To apply papaya peel extract on a set of tiles and another set of concrete floors.
To assess the shine and smoothness of the treated tiles and concrete floors using appropriate
measuring tools.
Research Objectives
Specific Objectives:
To compare the effectiveness of papaya peels as a polish on tiles versus concrete floors.
Hypothesis
There is no significant difference in the effectiveness of using papaya
peels as a natural polish for tiles compared to their effectiveness on
concrete floors.
Significance of the Study
It addresses environmental concerns by exploring natural alternatives to traditional
floor polishes, which can reduce wastage and the use of harmful chemicals
commonly found in commercial floor polishes and to promote eco-friendly
practices.
This research could also offer cost-effective solutions for floor maintenance,
especially beneficial for budget-conscious individuals and businesses.
Papaya peel variations such a ripeness and quality may influence polishing results.
Materials and
Method
Research Design
This study employed a systematic approach to create a papaya peel-based polish
with enhanced durability by incorporating carnauba wax.
A controlled experiment design was used to assess the efficacy of this natural
polish to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
