Learning Theory –
Simplest
Explanation Ever
Introduction:-
How did you learn to ride a bicycle when you a child?
Psychologists have always been fascinated with how human
beings learn, and the complexities involved in the process.
Canadian psychologist Albert Bandura came up with the
social learning theory to help us understand how people learn.
Bandura proposed that people can also learn by observing
other people.
Social Learning Theory

of behaviour change
Observation Learning (1)
The remaining children were taken to another
room
Bobo Doll experiment
One adult was aggressive towards the doll and the
other adult ignored the doll completely,
Children who witnessed by adults also explained
aggressive behaviour towards the doll.
A number of children were tested in one room
with an adult, a number of toys and a bobo doll,
Observational Learning (2)
Bandura identified three models of observational learning ;
Live model
Symbolic model
Verbal instructional model
Intrinsic Reinforcement
Internal state of mind and motivation are
as important a factor influencing your
learning.
For example if you are into running you
will be happy if you run faster and longer
this morning as compared to yesterday
morning, your motivation to run here is
intrinsic,
If you are athlete running to train yourself
to for a competition, the motivation is
external,
Social cognitive learning theory,
Learning and Behaviour Change
Learning occurs through :
Observation
Imitation
Modelling (or Learning in other words)
Learning does not necessarily come only when someone’s behaviour is permanently
changed,
But are there some factors which aid learning?
Factors that ensure success in learning
