 Studying Rizal means you are in college – somehow found its way in the
curriculum thru the mandate in the constitution
 To the person uninterested in history because he is involved in the natural
sciences, the engineering students who pays little attention to social studies of
political events, the example of Rizal is for you
 Rizal’s intellectual interest as writer, doctor, linguist, artist, nationalist, botanist
should be dismissed as mere elements of his genius & therefore beyond our reach
 Rizal was an ideal citizen worth emulating. He was not just a brilliant man.
INTRODUCTION p.4

 He was a man with a heart for his fellowmen and country.

 He was a man with the will to reform the decaying society the
Filipinos were living in.

humble man and loved God. Despite his influence he never
took advantage of it to become abusive, arrogant or immoral.

AND RESPONSIBILITIES p.4
