ASEAN DIALOGUE

PARTNERS
ASEAN currently has eleven (11) Dialogue Partners namely: Australia,
Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea,
New Zealand, Russia, the United States of America, and the United
Kingdom which was accorded Dialogue Partner status in 2021
The ASEAN Emblem
The ASEAN Emblem represents a stable, peaceful, united, and dynamic ASEAN. The colors of the Emblem represents
the main colors of the flags of all ASEAN Member States.

• Blue represents peace and stability.

• Red depicts courage and dynamism.

• White shows purity.

• Yellow symbolizes prosperity.

• The ten rice stalks or "padi" represent a Southeast Asia bound

together in friendship and solidarity.

• The circle represents the unity of ASEAN.


REGIONAL COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC
PARTNERSHIP (RCEP)
1 January 2022, RCEP entered into force for Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Japan, Lao PDR,
New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

RCEP is the world's largest free trade deal, covering a population totaling to 2.3 billion people, a combined GDP of
USD 26.2 trillion that accounts for over a quarter of the global GDP, and nearly a third of global economic output.

It is an ASEAN-cenetered and -led comprehensive agreemen that involves the ten (10) ASEAN Member States
and give (5) free trade partners namely China, Japan, ROK, AU, and New Zealand.
ASEAN POPULATION
With over 650 million inhabitants, ASEAN represents
8.7% of the total world population. It has a larger
population than the European Union, which has about 512
million people, and the United States, which has around
327 million people in 2018.

After China and India, ASEAN is the most populous


region in the world.

ASEAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMMES
The ASEAN University Network (AUN)
provides scholarships under the AUN Student
Exchange Programme to promote intra-ASEAN
student mobility at both undergraduate and
graduate levels.
Currently, several scholarship offerings are
available for ASEAN students supported by
dialogue partners namely China, Republic of
Korea, Canada, United States, India, , Japan,

ASEAN IDENTITY
The Narrative of ASEAN Identity was adopted by the ASEAN
Leaders during the 37th ASEAN Summit in November 2020.

ASEAN Identity is envisioned to strengthen the ASEAN


Community and will enhance common values with a higher
degree of we-feeling and sense of belonging and sharing in all
the benefits of regional integration

In 2005, the Philippine sport Arnis was introduced
in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

In 2019, Electronic Sports (or ESports) was introduced in the


Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. There are currently twelve
(12) electronic games in the SEA Games.

The Philippines first competed in the Olympic Games in 1924 in


Paris, making it the first country from Southeast Asia to

ASEAN YOUTH
ASEAN's population is very young.

In 2017, over half were between the ages of 20 to 54 and one third were 0 to 19 years old.

The youth make up more than 30 percent of ASEAN's total population. They are projected to reach 220
million in total by 2038
The ASEAN Community is supported by three
pillars:
• ASEAN Political-Security Community;

• ASEAN Economic Community; and

• ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community


ASEAN Chair
2023
Indonesia is the ASEAN Chair for 2023.

Its Chairship theme is

"ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth "
