The Dove” What is Noun? - A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, an animal, event or idea. What is Noun? - A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, an animal, event or idea. - Nouns can also be categorized as Count or Non-Count nouns. COUNT AND NON – COUNT NOUNS Learning Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
• note details from the selection read;
• identify count and non-count nouns; • give examples of count and non-count nouns; and • give the importance of education. COUNT NOUN • It can be counted as one or more. It tells how many a particular noun is. Examples: pen, computer, bottle, spoon, desk, cup, television, chair, shoe, finger, flower, camera, stick NON – COUNT NOUN • It cannot be counted. They usually express a group or a type. They are also called uncountable nouns or mass nouns. Examples: water, wood, ice, air, oxygen, traffic, furniture, milk, wine, sugar When you are unsure whether a noun is countable or uncountable, ask yourself how many there are as used in the sentence.
