Going to

Workshop 15
‘I’m heading to…’
Sometimes we say instead of I'm going to the United States, we say I'm heading to the United
States,
or instead of saying, when are you going?
We say, when are you heading?
So it is simply used for moving from one location to another.
Don’t say:
I'm heading as a substitute for I'm going in the future tense, you know, like I'm going to go here.
● I'm heading to see. X
● I'm heading to go. X
● I'm heading to do a couple of examples. X

Something to bear in mind is that we don't use this in the simple, tense, really rare occasions,
but we mostly use it in the future continuous like I'm heading to I'm going to this way, but don’t
say I will head to or I head to as a kind of routine.

I will head to X
I head to X
How often do you go to the cinema?
You know, I roughly go twice per week.
Actually, I'm heading to the cinema this weekend to see the new whatever movie.
Or how often do you go shopping?
Oh yeah, I go shopping this amount of times and I'm actually heading into the city center this
afternoon to get a few things, to get a few bits and bobs, to get a few bits and pieces.
Future plans/vacations
I'm heading to Spain for holidays.
I'm heading to the south of the country for holidays.
I am heading to the capital to do some sightseeing.
Oh, I'm actually heading to Australia to emigrate
or I'm heading to the countryside for some peace and quiet
