 Conducting our Gap Analysis

• To get to the heart of the matter, we need to collect data to see

what is happening with our group of volunteers
• We collected data in 2 ways
• Open-ended survey to all 40 volunteer employees & 10 paid
employees
• In-depth interviews with the paid employees and 10 long-
term (at least 24 months as a volunteer) using the
information learned from the surveys

animal with a volunteer.
• How did the volunteer handle it?
• How would you have liked the volunteer to have
handled it?
• What procedures do you have in place for working with a
volunteer when an aggressive encounter has taken place?
• Are there any changes that took place in
the organization 6 months ago that may correspond to the
changes in behavior in the animals?
