what is subject verb agreement

What is Subject-verb
Agreement?
It refers to the agreement or concord between the subject of a sentence and the verb that follows it.
In other words, the verb in a sentence must match the number (singular or plural) and, in some cases, the person
(first person, second person, or third person) of the subject. This ensures that sentences are grammatically correct
and clear.
subject-verb- What are 16 rules for Subject-..
RULE #1
A simple subject requires a singular verb and a plural subject requires a plural
verb. A predicate must agree in number and person with the simple subject.
RULE #2
RULE #3
RULE #4
Doesn’t should be used only with a singular subject, while don’t should be used
only with plural subject.
RULE #5
Do not be misled by a phrase that comes between the subject
and the verb. The verb agrees with the subject, not with a noun
or pronoun in the phrase.
RULE #6
The words each, each one, either, neither, everyone, everybody,
anybody, anyone, nobody, somebody, someone, and no one are
singular and require a singular verb.
RULE #7
Nouns such as mathematics, measles, and news in plural in
form require singular verbs. When talking about an amount
of money, it requires a singular verb, but when referring to
the dollars themselves, a plural verb is required.
RULE #8
Nouns occurring in a sets of two take the singular when the noun
pair is present, but the plural when pair is not used, regardless of
whether one pair or more is being referred to.
RULE #9
In sentences beginning with “there is” or “there are”, the subject
follows the verb. Since “there” is not the subject, the verb agrees
with what follows.
For example, in the sentence.
There are many questions.
There is a question.

RULE #10
Collective nouns are words that imply more than one person but
that are considered singular and take a singular verb, such as group,
team, committee, class, and family.
Note: Whether the group is thought of as a whole or individual.
RULE #11
Expression such as with, together with, including, accompanied
by, etc. do not change the number of the subject. If the subject is
singular, the verb is too.
RULE #12
RULE #13
Inverted Sentences
Inverted sentences, where the subject follows the verb, still require subject-verb agreement:
RULE #14
Intervening Phrases and Clauses
Intervening phrases and clauses are elements that come between the subject and the verb
in a sentence. While they may provide additional information or details, they do not
affect the basic subject-verb agreement in the sentence.
For example, in the sentence.
• "The book, along with the pen, is on the table."
While these elements add detail and complexity to your writing, they do not change the
fundamental grammatical rules governing subject-verb agreement in English.

RULE #15
Non-count nouns, also known as mass nouns or uncountable nouns, are a
category of nouns in English that represent substances, concepts, or things
that cannot be easily counted individually. These are always treated as
singular, even though they may refer to multiple items:
For example, in the sentence.
RULE #16
Relative clauses introduced by "who," "which," or "that" do not affect
subject-verb agreement with the main subject:
For example, in the sentence.
Example:
*When "some," "all," or "none" are part of the sentence subject, the number
of the verb matches the number of the noun to which "some," "all," or "none"
refers. Note below how the subject ("sample," "samples," etc.) controls the
number of the verb.
Example:
Some of the sample is contaminated.
Some of the samples are refrigerated.
All of the bone is intact.
All of his bones are broken.
None of the ground is disturbed.
None of the grounds are mowed.
