This course is designed to introduce
students on the basic understanding
of pavement engineering with an
emphasis on the design standards that
being used in Malaysia, and
intranational
LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Design a road pavement thickness based on both purely

empirical and mechanistic empirical approach (C5, LOD 1,
LOAD 10, PLO 1)
2. Conduct a pavement structural analysis by using elastic multi-
layer analysis for flexible pavement and plate on liquid and
solid foundation for rigid pavement software (P4, LOD 5, LOD
9, PLO 5).
3. Perform a non destructive test on pavement for structural
evaluation and overlay design according to local and
international standard specifications of road works (A5, LOD
6, LOD 7, LOD 11, PLO 9).
