• There used to be a lot of grass and trees
• Most of Alberta’s human population live here
• There is not a lot of space for plants and animals

Climate
• Summers are usually warm with not a lot of rain
• Winters are usually long and cold
Natural Resources

• Farming
• Oil/Gas
Vegetation (plants)
• Aspen trees provide food and shelter to animals
• Cattail roots prevent erosion along river banks
• Cattails are home to birds, insects and amphibians
Animal Life
• It is known as the “Duck Factory” because of the large number of ducks that stop
in the Parklands to nest
• Limited space for plants and animals
• Moose, frogs, black bear, beaver, blackbirds
