LOSS CONTROL

MAIN COMPONENTS OF ALERTING,
SUPPRESSION, AND CONTAINMENT
FEATURES AND SYSTEMS
46
Fire detection systems are designed to discover fires early in their
development when time will still be available for the safe evacuation of
occupants. Early detection also plays a significant role in protecting
the safety of emergency response personnel. Property loss can be
reduced and downtime for the operation minimized through early
detection because control efforts are started while the fire is still small.

50
Active Fire Protection (AFP) is a group of systems that require some amount of action
51
or motion in order to work efficiently in the event of a fire.
52
Passive Fire Protection (PFP) is a group of systems that
compartmentalize a building using fire-resistance rated
walls/floors. Compartmentalizing your building into smaller
sections helps to slow or prevent the spread of fire/smoke from one
room to the next.
