Introduction

 Ferrocement concrete is a versatile&

innovative construction material.
 It consists of a thin layer of cement mortar
reinforced with a mesh of closely spaced wire or
steel meshes.
 Ferrocement is known for its high strength-to-
weight ratio and excellent durability

Composition & properties

 Ferrocement concrete consists of a mixture of

cement, sand, water and small diameter of wire
meshes.
 The wire meshes are arranged in multiple layers to
provide reinforcement and improve tensile
strength.
 The cement mortar binds the wire meshes together ,
creating a highly durable and flexible construction
material.

Strength & durability

 The steel reinforcement in

Ferroccement enhances its tensile
strength.
 The thin layers of mortar provide
excellent crack resistance.
 Ferroccement structures have a
longer lifespan compared to
conventional concrete.

Applications

 Ferroccement is commonly
used in the construction of
water storage tanks and
swimming pools.
 It is also suitable for building
bridges, tunnels, and low-cost
housing.
 Ferroccement can be used for
decorative purposes, such as
sculptures and architectural
elements.
