Ireland's climate is mild and has frequent rainfall. Although it can get quite
cold, temperatures are rarely extreme and snowfall is infrequent. The
hours of sunlight vary throughout the year. In winter it receives about eight
hours of daylight. In summer it receives up to 17 hours of daylight. Ireland
practices Daylight Saving Time (DST), which means that during the summer
the clocks are set forward one hour, so there is longer evening daylight.
